The Start Of Something New

I have been photographing all my life, and I am finally making it a business next week! My nerves are through the roof, but I am also extremely excited to see where this takes me. I have a love for photography and it has helped heal me, as corny as that sounds.
This is from the first wedding that I had ever taken photos of. It is a family member who had a beautiful, simple wedding, and a very fun pot luck reception.
I wasn't asked to take the photos, but this is when I started to think that maybe I could do this.
Maybe, just maybe, I could turn this into something special.

Fast-forward to now, 7 years later, and I am starting a business. The 4.0 I received for the few Digital Media classes that I completed in 2012 finally feel like they have a purpose. There are no words to describe the journey I have made to be where here now, and it is all cultivating into my dream.
I worked in a studio at the local mall for a year and a half taking photos of newborns, children, and families. I worked my way up to school photographer, and ventured out of the studio to visit schools to take individual and class photos. I also started taking photos of the local little league teams, and even took on a 5th grade talent show by myself. It was a Lip Sync Battle Talent Show where I took photos of each of the acts and then one of the entire 5th grade class.
I knew that although working with a new child every 20 minutes for 6 hours a day was fun for a while, it was not something that I could or wanted to do long term. I learned a lot working with that many clients in that short amount of time, and from the people I worked with who were amazing and taught me a lot. I am proud that they are also branching out and starting their own amazing journeys.
Even my logo has evolved so much throughout the years.
Someday, I wish to travel the world and capture it through a view finder. Although this photo is from Animal Kingdom in Disney World, and not some exotic land far away (at least to where I am located), it makes me feel like there is hope to my dreams. I am very fortunate to have the opportunity to go to Disney often, but hopefully someday I will make it out to see the rest of the world.
I am ecstatic to be starting on this new adventure. I figure, what a better day to begin than the first day of summer. I hope you join me in my journey, and maybe even book a session!
